We understand that moving into a retirement home that offers assistive care is a major decision and that such a change in lifestyle may be challenging. Yet, everyone at St. Columban’s is determined to make it a change for the better. A supportive, loving and well-trained staff dedicated to helping them quickly adjust to their new surroundings and feel at ease as they join our family-like community, will welcome new residents.
The first thing we do is to meet with new residents and their family members to get acquainted and learn about any special needs or concerns they may have. We personally show them around St. Columban’s, making introductions to staff and other residents. We point out the facility’s many features of interest as well as all the amenities that are available. We explain schedules and routines, discuss programs and activities that may be of interest, and preview everything they can expect on a daily basis. We help them settle into their new room, happily answering any question that may arise along the way.
One thing we won’t do is leave anyone “on their own.” At St. Columban’s, we’re ever-present in providing personal attention and assistance to our residents—gently and respectfully delivered. Whether it’s walking residents to dinner or reminding them of an upcoming doctor’s appointment, the care, comfort and dignity of our St. Columban’s family is the only priority.
